5 Design Tips For Your Master Bedroom

Are you about to give your master bedroom a design overhaul? Looking for inspiration on how you can achieve a fresh look without breaking the bank? After all, if you live to age 75 you will spend an average of 25 years sleeping, YES that’s 25 YEARS asleep. With that in mind why wouldn’t you want your bedroom to be your haven?

Here are our 5 top tips!

Tip 1) Consider the best use of space in the room

Try to keep your circulation on one side of the room. Hotels are a very good example of this. There’s a reason most hotels have the same floor plan, it is because it’s simple and it works!

Tip 2) Create a feature/focal point in the room

It’s the upholstered headboard that really packs the punch for a chic interior bedroom design. Create a focal point in the room with a tall padded headboard. This creates an impressive feature in the room and can make a basic bed look grand. There are so many fabrics to choose from. We recommend choosing your fabric and then contacting a local upholsterer who can usually make one to measure at a lower cost than you would buy on the high street.

Tip 3) Make good lighting choices

Pay particular attention to lighting that will create a feeling on warmth, comfort and ambiance in the bedroom. Lighting can really make the room so opt for dimmable lamps and a main feature light that adds some wow factor to the room. Another top tip would be to consider where the switches are placed in the room. Nothing worse than having to haul yourself out of bed when you are warm and sleepy to switch off the light.

Tip 4) Opt for plain & neutral bed linen

Instead of going for bright colours and patterns with bed linen which can look fussy, we recommend instead going neutral and adding the colour into the room through using soft furnishings such as cushions, throws, bedspreads, bed runners etc. This creates a cleaner and modern look without it looking bland.

Tip 5) Quality carpets and flooring

If you are choosing a carpet for your bedroom we would suggest a deep pile carpet to add the ultimate feeling of luxury and warmth. It feels amazing to step out of bed onto a comfy carpet. As well as this is acts as an insulation and also reduces noise. If you are choosing flooring for your bedroom painted floorboards look fantastic – we love the shabby chic look.
